Funny Lady: Lauren Lapkus

Wahwahweewah. :)

Wahwahweewah. :)

If orange is the new black, funny is the new hot.

And speaking of funny AND “Orange is the New Black”, we had Lauren Lapkus on the podcast this week!

Lauren started doing improv in Jill’s hometown in the Chicago area (spoiler, lots of Chi-town nostalgia in the episode). Since then Lauren has since then starred in the Netflix series “Orange is the New Black and started her own podcast, “With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus”. On Lauren’s show, each week her guest is the host of their own podcast, and she is appearing as a character on their show. Brilliant? We think so. And let's not leave out the fact that she's been with Comedy BangBang before she started her own show. I'm especially excited that she's set to play a regular on Pete Holmes new HBO show, Crashing. If all that isn't enough, you can just get out.

Recently, Lauren wrote and starred in her own 30-minute episode of the Netflix sketch show called “Characters”. On the special, she included a few of her characters she introduced on the popular “Comedy Bang! Bang!” podcast. Our personal favorite was the reality-TV disaster Whitney Peeps, who reminded us of a Paris Hilton/Kim Kardashian hybrid.

We had such a blast talking about “funny business” and Lauren’s snack tendencies. Tune in for the whole convo!

The Doctor (Drew!) is in...

Full disclosure, we are fans of doctors.

Dr. Pepper, Dr. Scholls (making walking in heels an achievable goal!), Dr Evil (probably the best villain ever!), Jill’s dad (Hi Jim!).

One of our favorites we had the pleasure to talk to, Dr. Drew Pinsky and his wife, Susan Pinsky!

That’s right, we had the King and Queen of love at our culinary disposal.

We even submitted them both to a Rorschach test using our ingredient of the week: Ginger Root! We think they may have had a hard time not seeing penises in each one (or maybe that's just Jill).

Over a snack plate of assorted meats, crackers, and melon, Susan and Drew indulged us with hacks on how they’ve stayed married for so long, how to stay in tune with your body, and of course, the crazy things Susan and Drew heard over the years being on the radio.

Drew unveiled how Susan helped him get to the doctor only to find out he had early stage prostate cancer. We discovered Susan’s amazing ability to make screaming babies shut up (seriously, new parents: you’ve got a lot to learn from this woman!) and Drew dished to us that Susan is quite the exquisite cook around the house.

Between the two of them, they have multiple podcasts you should check out like “This Life”, “Calling Out With Susan Pinksy”, “The Dr. Drew Podcast”, and “The Adam and Dr Drew Show”.

Phew! When do they sleep?!

So many awesome stories about Loveline, psychics, food, cancer and so much more that you’ll just have to listen to find out about!

Alexi Wasser is BOYCRAZY!

Need some relationship advice from someone who’s cool and kind enough to be your BFF?

You’re in luck. We had a very special guest this week on the podcast, Alexi Wasser.

Alexi Wasser is an actor, writer, podcaster, and a relationship advice guru. You may even recognize Alexi from her portrayal of Jill in “Jill and Justin’s Drunk History Video”. She started the “I Am Boy Crazy” blog and radio where she doled out no nonsense relationship, sex, and love advice.

She dished with us about her feelings on the role of a woman vs a man in 2016, she texted some prospective dates while recording the pod, and took a “brain freeze challenge” with us that was all caught on camera. SPOILER ALERT: Alexi totally cheated

We won’t give away too much, but you should tune in to hear the dirt on the best, non-cheesy relationship advice along with her favorite snacks! Food, love, sex, and chocolate, we covered it all.

Follow Alexi on social media!

Real Talk with Actor Kevin Sizemore!

Ever heard of putting A1 sauce on licorice? How about ketchup on pasta?

On the show this week we had the pleasure of talking to Kevin Sizemore, star of the newly released movie “Woodlawn” and lover of (ahem) interesting food combinations. Aside from being a brilliant, actor, producer, and proud father (seriously, his kid is super talented too! Must be genetics!), Kevin LOVES food. We got into discussing where to get the best BBQ and he somehow convinced us to try A1 on just about anything (we know, he sounds like a pregnant woman).

Kevin is also blessed with having a personal trainer wife, Gina Lombardi (listen to the episode for the dirt on how he managed to woo that bombshell!). We got some great career and acting hacks and even an ambush by one of his students, Angela Sprinkle.

So many useful hacks, so much down home snack talk, and an ambush! Ok, enough reading, go listen!

Munchies are BACK! (In time for the holidays!!)

Is there anything better than eating your face off over the holidays?? We think not. And while the usual holiday faire is some of our favorite, we love to mix it up whenever we get a chance. The best way to do this? World of Munchies! This is our second go-round with a Munchies delivery, and we have never been disappointed with the selection. Salty, sweet, spicy...every craving is satisfied at once!

Plus, World of Munchies brings you all of these flavors via snacks from around the globe! Visit their website to get in on the action with this holiday coupon code when you spend $25 or more: HOLIDAY2015

You're welcome.

Jon Cryer Tells All!

Quick math equation:

2 ½ men - 1 man - ½ a man = Jon Cryer (and this week’s guest!)

We had the pleasure of having Jon Cryer on the show this week. Jon’s more than just 1 of 2.5 men; he’s an author, actor, screenwriter, director, producer and Little Debbies lover! You may know him as “Duckie” from the film Pretty in Pink or the hit (longest running multi-cam) sitcom Two and a Half Men (for which he won two freaking Emmy's!).

Not to mention he authored a memior, “So That Happened”. We chatted with him about all sorts of juicy stories from his days with the John Hughes gang as well as his more recent work with Charlie Sheen and Ashton Kutcher.

We were also thrilled to discuss with him his love for junk food and of course this week’s themed ingredient: onions. Get it? Cause onions make you CRY, and it’s Jon CRYer???

Ok, we’ll shut up now.

Just listen to the episode and cry when you chop those onions.

Like snacks?

Check.

Like traveling?

Check.

Like eating while traveling?

Check squared!

We’ve got the ultimate snack hack this week. A new service called “World of Munchies”. They hand-pick the most awesome snacks from all corners of the globe and deliver it you on your doorstep for under 16 bucks! Taste the world without needing a visa!

They sent us all sorts of goodies to try: Squid flavored chips from Thailand (which was actually one of our favorites!), cream filled panda cookies from Japan (another one we couldn’t stop eating!), Mexican marzipan, Israeli chocolate wafers, British cheese curls, and the list goes on and on! Had we actually picked up all these delicious snacks from their respective countries, we’d be kinda broke and incredibly jet lagged.

So whether you want a sampling of what everyone across the globe is snacking on or just want to have a cool international snack spread at your next party, World of Munchies is right up your alley!

Bonus points (as if this company even needs it): they throw in free samples! There, we saved you a trip to Thailand AND to costco!

Thanks, Raman!!

Thanks, Raman!!

PS) Our truly favorite part of this experience: finding out that World of Munchies was started by an elementary school kid! Hopefully we're not violating any child labor laws by sharing this info...but come on! How awesome is that? I'm sure we'll be seeing him tell his story on Ellen soon enough. :)

Until next time, stay hungry and curious!

LA Foodie Extraordinaire: Russ Parsons!

Russ Parsons knows how to pick the perfect peach.

Russ Parsons knows how to pick the perfect peach.

Being able to make someone’s mouth water just through a description of a dish is no easy feat, but Russ Parsons has it down.

Russ is a food writer and columnist at the Los Angeles Times, probably one of the dopest jobs we can imagine. He’s been writing about food for more than 25 years, including more than 20 years at The Times. He is the author of the cookbooks “How to Read a French Fry” and “How to Pick a Peach.”  He was inducted into the James Beard Foundation’s Who’s Who of Food and Beverage, the hall of fame of American cooking in 2008. So yeah, he’s a pretty big deal in the food world.

Russ was kind enough to give us some serious recipe development hacks, grocery shopping and farmers market hacks, and of course, he gave us the low down on how to REALLY pick the perfect peach.

And not to name drop, but yeah, we’re gonna name drop anyway: he gave us some first-person accounts of the queen of fine food herself, Julia Child. As if you needed another reason to download this interview pronto!

Until next time, stay hungry and curious...
